Why it takes more than one session
Hair grows in cycles, and a laser can only treat a follicle that is actively growing. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair shaft, travels down to the follicle and disables it — but at any moment only a portion of the hair on any given area is in that growth phase. That, and nothing else, is why laser hair removal is a course rather than a single appointment.
It is also why the spacing between sessions matters as much as the sessions. Coming in too early means treating follicles that were not ready; your interval is set at consultation for the area being treated, because the cycle is not the same on a lip as it is on a leg.
What to expect
- A snap of warmth with each pulse. Most people take it without numbing, and the clinic’s own clients describe it as the most comfortable laser they have had
- Appointment length runs with the area — a lip is minutes, full body is over an hour
- Pink and slightly raised at the follicles for a few hours afterwards, like mild razor burn
- Treated hair sheds over the following one to three weeks. That is the hair leaving, not regrowth

Before you book
- Shave the area the day before — do not wax, pluck or thread for four weeks first. The laser needs the follicle intact and the surface hair short
- No sunbeds and no fresh tan. A tan changes how the skin takes the energy, and we will move your appointment rather than risk it
- Tell us about medication that makes you sun-sensitive, and about recent isotretinoin
- Settings are chosen for your skin tone and hair type at consultation. Grey, white and very fine blond hair carries little pigment for the laser to find, and we will tell you plainly if that is you
