The Halo laser isn’t your average skin treatment. This cutting-edge technology harnesses the power of dual wavelengths to tackle melasma from multiple angles. Halo is the world’s first (and only?) fractionated and non-fractionated laser.
This one-two-punch approach effectively targets the root cause (excess melanin production) and the visible signs of melasma.
The treatment is relatively quick and comfortable, with most patients experiencing minimal discomfort thanks to topical numbing cream. After the treatment, you can expect some redness and swelling, which usually subsides within a few days. Some temporary darkening of the melasma patches may occur, but this is a normal part of the healing process and will fade over time.
At Glow By Laser, we believe in a truly holistic approach to treating melasma. We not only address the visible signs with the Halo laser but also provide you with comprehensive aftercare instructions and sun protection recommendations to prevent future melasma flare-ups.

What it treats
- Melasma patches on cheeks, forehead and upper lip
- Post-inflammatory pigmentation
- Uneven tone and blotchiness
- Pigment that has not responded to topical treatment
Why melasma is different
Melasma is not a sun spot and it does not behave like one. It is a pigment condition driven by hormones as much as by light, which is why it arrives in pregnancy or on the pill, why it is symmetrical across the face, and why it comes back when a sun spot would have stayed gone.
It is also the one pigment problem that aggressive treatment reliably makes worse. Heat alone can provoke it. That is why this is a patient protocol rather than a strong one, and why the honest framing is management and control rather than cure — a clinic promising to cure melasma in one session is telling you something about the clinic.
What to expect
- Topical numbing cream first. Most patients report minimal discomfort
- Redness and some swelling afterwards, usually settling within a few days
- Temporary darkening of the melasma patches is a normal part of healing and fades — the clinic flags this up front because it alarms people who were not told
- A course, spaced deliberately, rather than one strong session
- Sun protection and aftercare are part of the treatment, not an optional extra — without them melasma returns
Before you book
- Tell us about pregnancy, breastfeeding and hormonal contraception. They drive melasma directly and change the plan
- Come in with no fresh sun on your face
- Bring what you have already tried. Creams that failed are useful information, not an embarrassment
- Expect a conversation about maintenance before you start. Melasma is managed over time, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling
